Spooky Story Party Food

October 19, 2011 By Holly Leave a Comment Filed Under: Spooky Story Party

Just like with our decorations we showed you yesterday, we decided to try and keep things simple when it came to food and drinks at this spooky story party.  The party was held in the late afternoon so we had a few savory and a few sweet snacks. For savory we had asparagus and prosciutto […]

Spooky Story Party Decorations

October 18, 2011 By Holly Leave a Comment Filed Under: Spooky Story Party

We wanted to keep our decorations frightfully simple at this party.  Using the classic Halloween colors of black and orange with accents made from the pages of an old book. Our book pages became buntings, table runners, and drink wraps.  Pumpkins, spiders, and skulls also graced our tables.  The silverware caddy we made last week […]

Spooky Story Party

October 17, 2011 By Holly 1 Comment Filed Under: Spooky Story Party

At a recent meeting of my book club we started talking about some of our favorite childhood spooky stories.  We laughed a lot as we shared memories of scaring ourselves silly with stories, such as the one about the woman with the ribbon always tied around her neck or picking up a hitchhiking ghost on […]

DIY Silverware Caddy

October 13, 2011 By Holly 5 Comments Filed Under: Design/Create, Kids DIY & Crafts

Today’s DIY idea turns a cardboard bottle caddy into a party perfect silverware caddy. An old Izzy bottle caddy re-purposed with paint, paper, and ribbon  was all we needed for this project. First we painted it using acrylic black paint.  After that dried we wrapped the bottom with a 4″  belt of paper made  from […]

This simple lollypop stand can work great for cake pops, lollypops, rock candy, and more! You can find the full tutorial here. If you plan on using this for more than one occasion, choose a ribbon color that could work for both. We found that red and white were good colors that could be used over and over again. Here is the one we made for a Sesame Street inspired party.

This week is full of DIY ideas to create your perfect handmade tables-cape at your next party. Today we’re sharing our idea for a terrarium style cake stand made from a wine glass and glass plate. Pumpkin Party Activity

October 6, 2011 By Holly Leave a Comment Filed Under: Pumpkin Party

Carving pumpkins can get a little messy at a party, especially with a lot of kids. Instead, let kids decorate their pumpkins with washable paint, markers, or cloves (as shown). We simply marked dots along the outline of this pumpkin face and started the hole using a pencil. Then kids can add cloves to make […]

Welcome to northern Minnesota, circa 1995. My Grandpa built me a dollhouse for my 5th birthday, and 30 years later, I gave it back to him. For the first six months of the pandemic I transformed the tiny house into a replica of my grandparent’s house circa 1995, re-creating some of my favorite memories of holidays and summers gathered together as a family at their Minnesota lake home. The remodel started when my family got stuck at my parents during the stay-at-home orders, and when it looked like we would be there a while, I dusted off the old dollhouse to create something new. The original plan was to make it look more modern. Then, I got the idea to make it a miniature version of my favorite place on earth. Although it only stands 3 feet tall, it is full of tiny details and some of my favorite childhood memories. #11cupcakes #artistherapy #dollhouseminiatures #dollhouseminiature #dollhousetherapy #dollhousetour #miniatures #covidprojects #covidproject @mforminiatures

She insisted on dressing up like Reba McEntire, and thanks to her new love of country music I now know all the words to ‘Consider Me Gone’. Happy Halloween from the Queen of Country Music and her dinosaur sidekick. 🎃🎤🦖
