Apple Picking Party: Dessert

September 8, 2011 By Holly Leave a Comment Filed Under: Apple Picking Party

Today we’re sharing a great and party friendly recipe for a sweet dessert just perfect for after apple picking.  This recipe from 400caloriesorless.com is the perfect recipe to have children help with and is ready in just 30 minutes!
We’ve been making these with kids the past few falls and they have been a big success (and have even been served as a special breakfast treat once or twice too).

Ingredients:

  • 2 baking apples (a sweet Gala , McIntosh apple, or our favorite the Honeycrisp as opposed to a tart Granny Smith, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 package/tube (7.5 oz) of pre-made  biscuit dough – 10 biscuits
  • flour for rolling out the biscuits

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and grate apples and place in a bowl.  In a small bowl combine sugar and cinnamon. Then stir 3/4 of the sugar mix in with the apples. Roll each biscuit to a 5 inch circle with a rolling pin.   Be sure to flour the biscuit or the rolling pin a little bit so that they don’t stick to each other.   (Kid’s love to do this part!)
Place equal portions of apple mix in each 5 inch biscuit circle and then fold the circles in half. Pinch the edges together so your pocket stays shut (this is another part kids love to do).  You can use a fork to make decorative edge.

Place on a baking sheet and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool a bit and then enjoy!

Try this recipe it is sure to be a big hit with your family! Thanks to 400caloriesorles.com!
