Toddler Quiet Book

December 14, 2018 By Holly 5 Comments Filed Under: Crafting, Creative Kids Gifts, Design/Create, Kids DIY & Crafts

I made my daughter a quiet book for her second birthday. She is probably on the young side so I tried to make some pages that she could do now and others that were a little more advanced for when she gets older. I was amazed at all of the amazing ideas that people have come up with and found inspiration all over pinterest.

SHAPES: Inspired by this. The shapes all snap on and off. She is still too young to be able to snap them back on but she loves taking all of the shapes off and then matching them back up.

COLORS: Inspired by this and this. Similar to the shapes page, she can only take the balloons off of the buttons and then match the colors back up. Or rip the entire button off, hence the lone yellow balloon. She has been able to take the popsicle sticks out of and back into the popsicles.

LETTERS: Inspired by this. Each letter is velcroed down. In hindsight I wish I would have the letters below to match back up. However it is still a great way for her to learn letters, and when she gets older she can spell out shorter words.

NOAH’S ARK: Inspired by this, this and this. This is by far my favorite page, and the one that took the longest. Noah’s ark has a zipper to store the finger puppets, and they also fit in the pocket made by the water. The rainbow is made of zippers that all connect to make one large pocket. Finger puppets of Noah, hippo, giraffe, elephant, lion and monkey are her favorite.

MR. POTATO HEAD: Inspired by this. The flower pot is one large pocket that holds lots of pieces to make up Mr. and Mrs. Potato head. It has been a great way for her to learn body parts.

For the front cover I just cut her name out of felt and sewed on different ribbons. All of the pages are individual pages that are held together by her old link toys. I had originally planned on sewing it all together but there are still a few pages I am working on and others I think she would like later on. The book ended up being thicker than I thought so it’s nice that I can take a few with me instead of always having to carry the entire book.

These are absolutely darling! My babies are older now, but I know they would have loved these when they were younger. I imagine these books would be great to keep little ones occupied when you’re out and about, too!

This is adorable! My son is 14 months and would love something like this. I’m not crafty at all but I do love this idea.
