Linus’ Sesame Street Party: Decorations

Elmo’s goldfish, Dorothy, even made a special appearance at the party! The kids had so much fun “talking” to her and chatting with Elmo throughout the celebration, which made the whole day feel extra magical and interactive. Little details like that really helped bring the theme to life and kept the kids engaged from start to finish.

Although Elmo was the main focus of the party, I chose to decorate using a classic color palette of red, yellow, green, and blue rather than leaning too heavily into character-specific décor. Not only does this approach feel a bit cleaner and more polished, but it also makes the decorations incredibly versatile. Everything we used could easily be repurposed for another birthday party or kids’ celebration down the road, which is always a win.

Sticking with simple colors allowed the Elmo elements to really stand out, while still keeping the overall look fun, playful, and budget-friendly. It’s one of my favorite ways to create a themed party that feels cohesive without being overly themed—or overly expensive.

    Hi :-)
I found your blog and this posting while doing a google search for Sesame Street banners.

Our grand daughter is turning 2 in June, and I have been asked to make a banner.

Thanks for helping inspire me ;-)
