COOKIE MONSTER’S KITCHEN- The dollhouse needed a kitchen, and what better person to hang out in there than Cookie Monster, baking lots of cookies. Telly and The Count came to help, and Barkley is hanging out hoping for a few cookies to fall on the floor.
I found this dollhouse kitchen set at Hobby Lobby and spray painted the refrigerator, island and sink a bright purple. I found marble contact paper for the top of the counter and painted the stove silver and black. I also folded a little stove top out of silver paper and taped it to the wall.
Of course Cookie Monster is baking cookies, so the kitchen got a little messy. I added real flour to a bowl and cut up little chocolate sprinkles for the chocolate chips.
BERT & ERNIE’S BEDROOM- The final room of the Sesame Street Dollhouse is Bert and Ernie’s bedroom, complete with matching beds and a few of their favorite things. I used striped green scrapbooking paper for the walls, and found twin beds on ebay. I had some scrap fabric from my Sesame Street Birthday Party that I used to make sheets, blankets, and window curtains.
My favorite detail in the house is Bert’s bottle cap collection, which was made using tiny colored brads that I painted and glued onto cork.
Overall the house was a lot of fun to make and my daughter loves to play with it. Her favorite thing is to let everyone take a bath and then they all take turns washing their hands. They also take a lot of naps 🙂
