How to Receive Free Books For Your Child

April 23, 2017 By Holly 4 Comments Filed Under: Gift Giving, Mom + Baby

When I was pregnant my mom told me that Dolly Parton has a foundation that will send your child a book for free every month until they are 5 years old. That’s 60 free books for your child! My daughter is now 6 months old and we have gotten a book in the mail each month, including Let’s Count!, I Love My Daddy Because…, Night-Night, Forest Friends, Corduroy’s Shapes, and The Little Engine That Could. My parents instilled a love of reading in me and my brother from an early age and I am excited to do the same for my daughter.

Visit Imagination Library and click Register Your Child. Make sure to include their actual birthday to receive age appropriate books each month.

From Imagination Library: By mailing high quality, age-appropriate books directly to their homes, she wanted children to be excited about books and to feel the magic that books can create. Moreover, she could ensure that every child would have books, regardless of their family’s income. Since the initial program launch in the United States, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has gone from just a few dozen books to over 80,000,000 books mailed to children in the United States, into Canada and across the proverbial pond into the United Kingdom! Currently over 1600 local communities provide the Imagination Library to over 1,000,000 children each and every month.

Happy Reading,

I’ve heard about this! It’s such a great program, especially with so many families in the US not able to afford books for their household! And you’re getting quality books, too (I love Corduroy!). I’m going to remember this when I have a family!
