{Wedding Details} Reception: Decor

July 28, 2014 By Holly 1 Comment Filed Under: Celebrate, DIY Wedding, Party Decorations, Weddings

Minneapolis Real Wedding | When we were looking for a Minneapolis reception venue, I wanted a blank canvas. I had pictured a large open loft where I could transform the space, and the Day Block Event Center was exactly what we were looking for. The brick walls, exposed ceilings, and beautiful hardwood floors were a perfect starting place

{Wedding Details} Reception:: Food

Minneapolis real wedding reception food, Day Block Event Center, Mini Wedding Table Cakes, Cafe Latte Bakery

I’ve been to many weddings in my 29 years, but I couldn’t tell you what was served for dinner at most of them. Last spring I went to a good friend’s outdoor barn wedding. Among many fabulous details, the couple rented food trucks for dinner. Guests had the choice between a taco truck and a […]

{Wedding Details} Ceremony

Minneapolis Spring Wedding, Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Ceremony ideas

When we originally booked the Day Block for our reception site, we planned on having the ceremony there as well. In the end we decided we preferred to get married in a church, and were able to rent Pilgrim Lutheran Church for the day. It was the perfect intimate setting and I am so glad we made […]

{Wedding Details} Wedding Party

May 30, 2014 By Holly 1 Comment Filed Under: Celebrate, DIY Wedding, Weddings

Minneapolis Real Wedding | Bridesmaids wore navy dresses from Target with different color shoes, all matching their bouquets. Red, salmon, yellow, kate spade green, teal, purple, and pink.

One of the biggest ‘challenges’ of planning was my desire for color, while my husband would wanted everything to be classic (as in no polka dots). My favorite compromise was the bridal party. I choose simple navy bridesmaid dresses from Target (Target sells bridesmaid dresses now!) and let them pick their own style as long […]

Wedding Planning: Engagement Photos

February 25, 2014 By Holly Leave a Comment Filed Under: Celebrate, DIY Wedding, Weddings

A while ago I had seen an engagement session that was done in a studio. When I first started telling people my idea, I got a lot of weird looks and a few “…like JC Penny portraits?” questions. Ed and I wanted to do something unique and creative, and I think these photos turned out […]

Wedding Planning: Save the Dates

Wedding Planning: Save the Dates

Normally I am not a big fan of Save the Dates- I feel like this is one of the many things the wedding industry made up to make more money. However, I had seen a save the date that was used to tell the couple’s story, which I thought was incredibly creative. Since our story […]

Welcome to northern Minnesota, circa 1995. My Grandpa built me a dollhouse for my 5th birthday, and 30 years later, I gave it back to him. For the first six months of the pandemic I transformed the tiny house into a replica of my grandparent’s house circa 1995, re-creating some of my favorite memories of holidays and summers gathered together as a family at their Minnesota lake home. The remodel started when my family got stuck at my parents during the stay-at-home orders, and when it looked like we would be there a while, I dusted off the old dollhouse to create something new. The original plan was to make it look more modern. Then, I got the idea to make it a miniature version of my favorite place on earth. Although it only stands 3 feet tall, it is full of tiny details and some of my favorite childhood memories. #11cupcakes #artistherapy #dollhouseminiatures #dollhouseminiature #dollhousetherapy #dollhousetour #miniatures #covidprojects #covidproject @mforminiatures

She insisted on dressing up like Reba McEntire, and thanks to her new love of country music I now know all the words to ‘Consider Me Gone’. Happy Halloween from the Queen of Country Music and her dinosaur sidekick. 🎃🎤🦖
